Prior to studying this course learners must have completed and passed the Foundation in Canine Exercise Rehabilitation.
Learners are expected to be familiar with the common neurological conditions found in canines. Learners will also need to have access to cases for course work; so should be in employment or in a volunteer position at either a veterinary practice or a hydrotherapy centre.
Learning delivery and time allocation
This course is delivered online so can be studied from anywhere in the world. Learners can start the course at any time and study at their own pace. The course comprises 150 hours of learning. An average study time of 10/15 hours per week will lead to completion in 10/15 weeks. However, the learner can take up to two years to complete the course. The learning time comprises studying course material, completing tasks, carrying out further reading and own research, and completion of the assessment.
Formative tasks and activities are taken throughout the course. Once all of these are completed, the learner is required to submit the test paper for final graded assessment.
Study is independent, however learners have access to discussion forums where they can connect with their fellow students - and this is encouraged. Learners are also assigned a tutor, who will be available for help if and when it is needed.
Learning level and suitability
The outcomes of this course are benchmarked at level 4 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner. The course is suitable for those who have studied at Level 3 or above. These courses are suitable for those who have studied to a higher level in a related subject. For those who have specifically studied Canine Exercise Rehabilitation above Level 4/5 may still find this course useful as a CPD refresher but may be more suited to the postgraduate level courses which are planned for 2019 - details of these courses will be added to the website in due course.
